Scott adds to his points total at Dutch GP

Scott had to fight his way through the field from the fifth row of the grid, to take a respectable 11th place in today's Moto2 race at the historic Circuit van Drenthe in Assen.

He got a good start from 19th position on the grid, but was blocked in around the first three turns as the 40-rider Moto2 grid negotiated the Assen circuit for the first time.   After a number of laps he managed to fight his way through the group immediately in front of him and then continued to pick off his rivals throughout the 24-lap race.  He was lapping within two-tenths of the riders battling for the podium and made the 5th fastest lap of the race.  A concerted effort in the closing stages saw Scott pass Simone Corsi for 11th place, netting him five more championship points and keeping him in 13th place in the World rankings.

Scott:

"The start was as crazy as always and I got blocked in around the first part of the track. But then I managed to fight my way through the first group of riders ahead of me, found a good rhythm and set some pretty quick lap times. The lap times suffered a bit every time I came up behind someone, but once past I was able to drop the times once again. I felt good, the bike felt good and the lap times were similar to those Elias and Luthi were doing at the front of the race, but I was on a hiding to nothing with the grid position today. We need to take a long hard look at our qualifying performance, to ensure we start from further up the grid in future.”

Michael Bartholemy: Team Manager

"Scott rode a good race today and his pace was very close to that of the group battling for the podium. The only reason he wasn't up there battling with them was because he started so far down the grid. This is something we need to address, as it's the only thing stopping Scott from scoring the results that, with his fourth place at Silverstone, he proved he is capable of.”
